El atleta libre\u00f1o, que participaba por quinta vez en estos Juegos, logr\u00f3 una marca de 2,05 metros y no pudo cristalizar su anhelo de llegar al podio y sumar una nueva medalla a su extraordinaria campa\u00f1a deportiva.<\/p>\n
Layoy -15 veces campe\u00f3n argentino y de 35 a\u00f1os- comenz\u00f3 la competencia sorteando los 2 metros en el primer intento. Luego sobrepas\u00f3 los 2,05 metros en su segundo e intent\u00f3 sin suerte los 2,08, registrando tres nulos.<\/p>\n
La final de salto en alto se disput\u00f3 en el Centro de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CARD) \u00abPedro Candioti\u00bb de Santa Fe y la medalla de oro se la colg\u00f3 el brasile\u00f1o Fernando Carvalho, consagrado campe\u00f3n con un registro de 2,14 metros.<\/p>\n
La medalla de plata fue para el colombiano Gilmar Correa, que tambi\u00e9n alcanz\u00f3 los 2,14 metros, pero termin\u00f3 segundo por la cantidad de intentos nulos. El podio se complet\u00f3 con otro representante de Brasil: Thiago Souza logr\u00f3 un salto de 2,11 metros y obtuvo el bronce.<\/p>\n
